‘Comarca La Vera’
There are many excursions and things to do in the area within walking distance of Finca Valmorisco.
We find the famous Jerte Valley, a natural paradise full of vegetation and cherry blossoms. In addition to a historical and cultural wealth in each town and every corner, under the supervision of the Monastery of Yuste and the authenticity of its people.
Cherry Blossom Festival
The Cherry Blossom Festival is above all a popular celebration that tries to reflect the life of a whole region, both past and future. To this end, all kinds of activities are organized that serve as a showcase for our culture, gastronomy, traditions and way of life.
Monastery of Yuste
Located in the small village of Cuacos del Yuste, we can find the Monastery of Yuste founded by Hieronymite Order of monks in 1402.
Awarded with the European Heritage Label, the monastery was the place of retirement of Charles I of Spain and V of the Holy Roman Empire after his abdication where he lived until passing away.
The monastery was terribly damaged during the Spanish Civil war and burnt to the ground. It would be only after the war when Francisco Franco would restore it.
Currently inhabited by monks of the Pauline Order, it is also well known due to the beauty of its surrounding landscape, Valle del Jerte widely regarded as popular eco-tourist destination.
German Cemetery of Cuacos de Yuste
The German Cemetery of Cuacos de Yuste is a military cemetery located in the vicinity of the Monastery of Yuste, in Cáceres, Spain.
Many of the German soldiers, aviators and sailors of the First World War and Second World War are buried there, who arrived on the Spanish coasts and lands due to shipwrecks or the demolition of their planes.
Castillo de los Conde de Oropesa
The castle can be historically divided into two parts. The Arabs built up the old castle on the tenth century and there are still several remaining’s of the original castle such as its towers.
The new castle, was built on the mid fifteen century, owned by the Counts of Oropesa, this castle would be used by Charles I of Spain whilst Yuste was being built.
During the independence war that confronted Spain and France in the nineteenth century, the castle was damaged and therefore needed refurbishing.
In the present days, the castle was turned into a Parador Nacional and has been declared as part of the Spanish Historical Heritage.
